Money stress is hitting the workplace hard. PwC found that 59 percent of workers are financially stressed, while 71 percent of Gen-Z workers say it’s hurting their productivity. Morgan Stanley reports that 56 percent say financial stress is affecting both their work and personal lives. 

Those aren’t just personal finance statistics. They’re workforce signals. Most founders see numbers like those and think they’re looking at a personal finance problem. 

That assumption can get expensive. For over 30 years, I’ve watched financial education, information, apps, and money-management tools multiply.  

Yet financial pressure remains widespread. Its effects on performance, engagement, and retention are still showing up in the workplace.

Some founders believe what employees do with their money is none of their business. On the privacy question, they’re right. 

Money is deeply personal. Employers shouldn’t be poking around in employees’ financial lives. However, when their business starts affecting your business on company time, ignoring it gets expensive.
