Barcelona cut midfielder asking price in half this summer

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona agreed to cut their demands for midfielder Marc Casadó by a full 50% in efforts to move him on this summer. In the end, however, even this stance failed to give rise to a permanent departure for the Spaniard.

Casadó is of course fresh off sealing a deadline day exit from Catalunya’s capital earlier this week. Following months of speculation, the 22-year-old put pen to paper on terms with newly-promoted Deportivo La Coruña for the season ahead.

Those in the Camp Nou boardroom, though, were left hugely disappointed by this outcome…

Deco and co. worked tirelessly throughout the window to find a permanent buyer for Casadó. During the final days of the market, Barca then thought they had sourced one, in the form of Bayer Leverkusen.

After agreeing to slash their asking price from €40 million to just €20 million, the Blaugrana were mere details from signing off on their youth product’s move to the BayArena.

At the last minute, however, as per Diario Sport, Leverkusen were forced to pull out after failing to find a buyer of their own for Robert Andrich.

For this reason, Casadó remains tied to Barcelona through the summer of 2027 and beyond.
