Met Office weather maps show temperatures could hit 25C in parts of the UK tomorrow, with much of England expected to see highs of 20C or above

Met Office weather maps suggest temperatures will climb to a balmy 25C in parts of the UK tomorrow, with as many as 70 areas seeing highs of 20C or more.
The weather service says southern and central parts of the UK will be “largely dry and bright until late” throughout the day. South-east England is set to enjoy the warmest conditions, with 25C expected in Canterbury and Ipswich, and 24C in London, Leicester, Tenterden, Rochester, Chelmsford, Halesworth, Sudbury and Lowestoft.
But the most pleasant spell is expected to be short-lived. The Met Office says rain and showers will move southeastwards late on Monday, with gales developing towards the north-west.

In its outlook for Tuesday to Thursday, the Met Office says: “Showers easing throughout Tuesday, with a mostly dry and bright day on Wednesday. Thursday starting fine and dry but outbreaks of rain, stronger winds likely moving in from the west.”
The Met Office announced on Tuesday that the summer of 2026 – which saw an average mean temperature of 16.5C – was provisionally the hottest summer on record for the UK.
The summer was also one of the sunniest on record in some parts of the country. It was notably dry for many areas, although late-season rainfall helped keep several places from breaking low rainfall records.
Dr Amy Doherty, who leads the National Climate Information Centre at the Met Office, said: “The conditions we’ve seen this summer have broken UK climate records once again. These records are now breaking with increasing frequency, reflecting the influence of human-induced climate change on the temperatures we’re experiencing in the UK.”
