Texas A&M football is back and ready to take the field for Week 1.
The Aggies, after making their first appearance in the College Football Playoff, were ranked No. 8 in the preseason polls. The team will open its season at home against Missouri State. The Bears squeaked had a 7-6 record in 2025 after losing lost 34-28 in the Xbox Bowl to Arkansas State.

Last season, A&M won 11 games in the regular season before losing to Texas 27-17 in the Lone Star Showdown and to Miami in the first round of the CFP. Senior quarterback Marcel Reed returns for the Aggies as well as head coach Mike Elko, who signed a contract extension to stay in College Station until 2031. Texas A&M is coming off a 11-2 season and Elko has 19 wins through two seasons as head coach. Aggies fans are no doubt hoping this is the season A&M can break through into the SEC title game after falling one victory short last year.

How will Texas A&M football fare in 2026? My predictions
Here is how to watch Texas A&M play in its opener against Missouri State:
Texas A&M vs Missouri State predictions
Liam Keating, Springfield News-Leader: Texas A&M 52, Missouri State 24
The Aggies have national championship aspirations. But, Texas A&M has been susceptible to allowing points to early-season opponents. It has allowed Group of Six opponents to score 20 points or more in three of their last four games. Missouri State’s uptempo offense may surprise Texas A&M early but Heisman hopeful quarterback Marcel Reed will make some big plays to give his team an easy win.

This one goes about how you’d expect it to. The Aggie offense and defense are operating at full capacity and the Bears get overwhelmed. Marcel sits most of the second half and Brady Hart gets everyone excited about his ability as well as Aaron Gregory. A late drive gets Missouri State into field goal range, where they score to preserve a shred of their own dignity.
